Kitchen renovation: confirm the layout and services before ordering

Base a kitchen order on final dimensions, actual appliances and verified connections. Coordinate furniture, electricity, water, ventilation and reinstatement as one project.

Survey the room and describe everyday use

Record dimensions, openings, access and existing services. Explain cooking, storage and circulation needs. Identify changes to walls or floors that affect final measurements. A showroom layout is an illustration, not evidence that the same arrangement fits the room. Ask which concealed conditions need confirmation before fixing the order.

Choose actual appliances and verify their interfaces

Gather references and dimensions of the equipment retained or ordered. Have the relevant professionals examine water, drainage, electrical and ventilation implications. Include accessible service points and the room needed for operation or replacement. If an appliance changes, check the effect on the design rather than assuming a similar name guarantees the same requirements.

Assign final measurement and order approval

Identify who confirms dimensions after planned support work and who approves manufacture. Record opening directions, clearances and relevant level changes. Keep one agreed drawing with the selected references. Separate an attractive visual proposal from the technical confirmation of supports and connections. Do not leave made-to-measure decisions dependent on measurements that another trade is still changing.

Compare installation with all associated work

Include removal, protection, support preparation, connections, fixing and finish. Assign any excluded service alterations to a named contractor. Discuss access, deliveries and storage before the fitting date. A furniture total alone may leave substantial work outside the offer. Make sure each contractor uses the same layout version when comparing prices and dates.

Inspect operation and collect the maintenance information

Ask for demonstrations and the agreed technical checks. Compare the installed references, openings and finish with the order. Record reservations precisely and keep the instructions for appliances, surfaces and hardware. Retain the final layout and useful service information for later maintenance. If another operation follows installation, agree protection of the completed furniture and worktops.

Your preparation checklist

  • Room and daily use surveyed.
  • Appliances and connections confirmed.
  • Final measurement assigned.
  • Order drawing validated.
  • Excluded and associated work allocated.
  • Operation and notices retained.
